Bumpin'

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking a pivotal shift toward a more commercial, heavily orchestrated sound, 'Bumpin'' pairs Wes Montgomery's unparalleled guitar virtuosity with lush string arrangements by Don Sebesky. While purists debated the softening of his hard bop edges, Montgomery's signature octave technique and flawless phrasing shine through the lavish production. The album became highly influential in laying the foundational aesthetics of smooth jazz.
