Light Fuse, Get Away

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Widespread Panic's inaugural live album, 'Light Fuse, Get Away', captures the band's renowned concert dynamic from their 1997 tours, built on extended, improvisational jams that blend Southern rock, blues, and funk. The double album features expansive versions of fan favorites and covers, with John Keane's production preserving the raw energy of the performances, which notably include a guest appearance by saxophonist Branford Marsalis. The release cemented the group's reputation as a formidable live act and was historically significant for its record-breaking free release party in Athens, Georgia, that reportedly drew an audience of around 100,000 people.
