Album Notes & Community Reviews

Latin percussionist Willie Bobo seamlessly merges Afro-Cuban rhythms with the heavy, infectious grooves of 1960s soul-jazz on this highly accessible Verve release. 'Juicy' is packed with boogaloo-inflected covers of contemporary pop hits, featuring remarkably tight horn arrangements and Bobo's charismatic, laid-back vocal interjections. The session perfectly exemplifies the commercial, dancefloor-ready crossover style that defined his peak era.
