Album Notes & Community Reviews
A defining, foundational document of the Latin Boogaloo craze, 'Spanish Grease' finds percussionist Willie Bobo brilliantly fusing Afro-Cuban rhythms with gritty, American R&B and soul-jazz. The heavily syncopated title track became an enduring dance floor anthem, effectively bridging the cultural gap between New York's Latin dance halls and Harlem soul clubs. It is an intensely groovy, heavily sampled masterpiece of mid-60s fusion.
