Album Notes & Community Reviews
Considered one of the earliest concept albums, this collection documents the severe hardships of Okies migrating during the devastating sandstorms of the 1930s. Guthrie's stark acoustic guitar and conversational vocal delivery provided a vital voice to marginalized agricultural workers. The recordings helped establish the template for socially conscious American folk music.
