Retiring permanently from live touring following Andy Partridge's nervous breakdown, XTC retreated to the studio to craft this lush, heavily pastoral art-pop album. 'Mummer' completely discards their early post-punk anxiety in favor of highly melodic, beautifully intricate acoustic arrangements imbued with quirky, pagan-inspired neo-psychedelia.
