Album Notes & Community Reviews

Following a near-fatal shooting, the Compton rapper channels intense paranoia and political fury into a quintessential West Coast hip-hop record. Bypassing his former collaborator DJ Mustard, the album relies entirely on bouncy, vintage 1990s G-Funk basslines and synthesizers. Fueled by the visceral, anti-Trump protest anthem 'FDT', it was widely celebrated as a masterful, socially urgent revitalization of gangsta rap.
