An explosive meeting of extreme sonic improvisation and avant-garde theater, 'Arashi' documents a radical 1976 collaboration between Yosuke Yamashita's free jazz trio and the notorious Butoh dance troupe Dairakudakan. Driven by Yamashita's famously destructive, elbow-smashing piano technique, the performance devolves into a terrifyingly energetic and chaotic spectacle. The recording remains a vital artifact of Japan's boundary-pushing 1970s experimental underground.
