Characterized by a deliberately sparse and quiet aesthetic, 'Colossal Youth' sets Stuart Moxham's restrained guitar and a primitive, tape-loop drum machine against Philip Moxham's melodic bass lines and the coolly delivered vocals of Alison Statton. The sole studio album from the Welsh trio, its minimalist production and themes of youthful detachment established it as a landmark post-punk recording, casting a long shadow of influence over subsequent generations of indie and alternative musicians.
