Zao's seventh studio album, 'The Funeral of God' was recorded at Trax East in New Jersey with producer Eric Rachel, and marked the return of guitarist Russ Cogdell alongside newcomers Shawn Koschik on bass and Stephen Peck on drums after drummer Jesse Smith's departure. A concept album imagining humanity abandoned by a departing God, it yielded a music video for the single 'The Rising End (The First Prophecy)'.
