Returning to Sacred Bones Records following a brief major-label excursion, Nika Roza Danilova crafts a profoundly heavy, industrial-tinged exploration of personal tragedy. The album was born out of intense trauma, including severe illness in her family and the suicide attempts of close friends. It brilliantly frames her operatic, soaring vocals against terrifyingly bleak, mechanical darkwave production.
