Album Notes & Community Reviews
Capitalizing on the massive crossover success of 'Eliminator', ZZ Top leaned heavily into the realm of digitized sequences, drum machines, and blaring synthesizers on 'Afterburner'. The album smooths their traditional Texas boogie-rock roots into a highly polished, energetic stream of MTV-ready pop-metal and AOR. While deeply rooted in 80s commercial aesthetics, it remains an incredibly melodic, high-octane rock record.
