Biography
The 13th Floor Elevators were an Austin, Texas band formed in 1965 by Roky Erickson, Tommy Hall and Stacy Sutherland, and the first group known to describe its music as psychedelic rock. The single 'You're Gonna Miss Me' charted nationally in 1966, and 'The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators' and 'Easter Everywhere' on #International Artists# defined their mix of garage rock, electric jug and LSD philosophy. Drug arrests and Erickson's illness ended the band in 1969.
