Biography
Aktuala were a Milanese band active from 1973 to 1976, founded by Walter Maioli with Laura Maioli, Daniele Cavallanti, Antonio Cerantola and Lino Vaccina. Playing ancient and ethnic acoustic instruments, they fused progressive and psychedelic folk with Arabian, African and Indian influences. Their three albums for #Bla Bla#, 'Aktuala' (1973), 'La terra' (1974) and 'Tappeto volante' (1976), the latter two featuring Marjon Klok and Trilok Gurtu, made them pioneers of modern world music in Europe.
