Biography
Alban Berg (1885-1935) was an Austrian composer of the Second Viennese School, a pupil of *Arnold Schoenberg* who made twelve-tone writing lyrical and dramatic. His opera 'Wozzeck' (1925), the 'Lyric Suite' and the Violin Concerto (1935) are landmarks of musical modernism. He died in Vienna in 1935, leaving the opera 'Lulu' unfinished. His works entered the standard repertoire faster than those of any other atonal composer.
