Biography
Ayers Rock was an Australian jazz fusion and progressive rock band formed in Melbourne in 1973 by former members of *Leo de Castro and Friends*, with saxophonist Col Loughnan and, from 1974, guitarist Chris Brown completing the classic lineup. Their debut 'Big Red Rock' (1974) on #Mushroom Records# mixed rock songs with long instrumental pieces, and a deal with #A&M Records# made them the first Australian band to tour large United States stadiums. 'Beyond' (1976) followed before a split, a reunion and a final album, 'Hotspell' (1980).
