Biography
Azimuth was a British jazz trio consisting of pianist John Taylor, vocalist Norma Winstone and trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, formed at the suggestion of #ECM Records# founder Manfred Eicher. From their 1977 debut 'Azimuth' through 'The Touchstone' to 'How It Was Then... Never Again' in 1995, the trio created a quiet, delicately balanced chamber jazz of wordless vocals, minimal piano and lyrical trumpet, admired for its unique chemistry.
