Baby Face Willette

Biography

Baby Face Willette was an American Hammond organist whose church-rooted, blues-drenched playing lit up a handful of classic soul-jazz sessions. His #Blue Note Records# albums 'Face to Face' and 'Stop and Listen' (both 1961), with guitarist *Grant Green*, are genre landmarks. He died in 1971, aged thirty-seven, after drifting out of the music business. Collectors prize the original Blue Note pressings highly today.
