Jazz band formed in New Orleans in 1997 by drummer Brian Blade and pianist Jon Cowherd, with bassist Christopher Thomas and saxophonists Myron Walden and Melvin Butler as its lasting core. Across seven albums from 'Brian Blade Fellowship' in 1998 to 'Kings Highway' in 2023, the Fellowship blended post bop with gospel, folk and country colouring, favouring melody, space and a collective voice over solo display.
