Biography
Bronski Beat was a London synth-pop trio formed in 1983 by Jimmy Somerville, Steve Bronski and Larry Steinbachek. 'Smalltown Boy' and 'Why?' made them leading voices for gay rights in British pop, and their debut album 'The Age of Consent' named the inequality it protested. Somerville left in 1985; John Foster sang on 'Truthdare Doubledare' and Jonathan Hellyer on 'Rainbow Nation' before the band split in 1995. Steve Bronski revived the name in 2016, reworking the debut album as 'The Age of Reason' in 2017.
