Biography
Israel 'Cachao' L贸pez was a Cuban double bassist and composer revered as a co-creator of the mambo and a master of the descarga (improvised jam session). Born into a large musical family, he and his brother *Orestes L贸pez* developed the 'danz贸n-mambo' in the late 1930s while with the group *Arca帽o y sus Maravillas*. In the 1950s, he pioneered recorded descargas with the influential #Panart# album 'Cuban Jam Sessions in Miniature'. After leaving Cuba, his career was famously revitalized in the 1990s by actor *Andy Garc铆a*, leading to Grammy-winning albums like 'Master Sessions Volume 1' and cementing his legacy as a pivotal figure in Afro-Cuban music and Latin jazz.
