Biography

Chrome is a seminal American experimental rock band formed in San Francisco. Initially founded by Damon Edge and Gary Spain, the group's sound was defined by the arrival of guitarist Helios Creed. Pioneers of what would be termed industrial rock and acid-punk, Chrome blended raw punk energy with psychedelia, tape loops, and science-fiction themes. Their abrasive, atmospheric albums, particularly 'Alien Soundtracks' and 'Half Machine Lip Moves' on their own #Siren Records# label, became hugely influential in underground music circles. After Edge's death in 1995, Creed revived the Chrome name, continuing to tour and release new material that carries on the band's legacy of sonic exploration.
