Biography
Circus 2000 were an Italian psychedelic rock band from Turin, formed in 1969 around vocalist Silvana Aliotta, guitarist Marcello Quartarone, bassist Gianni Bianco and drummer Roberto 'Johnny' Betti. Singing mostly in English, they were often mistaken for a British or American act. Their self-titled debut appeared on #Ri-Fi# in 1970, followed in 1972 by the more progressive 'An Escape From a Box (Fuga dall'involucro)', with Franco Lo Previte on drums. The group disbanded in 1973, and their two albums are now regarded as collectors' classics of Italian psychedelic and progressive rock.
