Biography
Clifford Jarvis was a powerful and boisterous American drummer, pivotal in both hard bop and free jazz scenes. After studying with *Alan Dawson* at Berklee, he became a dynamic presence in New York, recording on seminal #Blue Note# sessions like *Freddie Hubbard*'s 'Open Sesame' and 'Hub-Tones', and *Jackie McLean*'s 'Right Now!'. Known for his explosive, fiery style, he was a key and long-serving member of the *Sun Ra Arkestra*. In the 1980s, Jarvis relocated to London, where he became an influential educator and a fixture of the local jazz scene, collaborating with younger musicians like *Courtney Pine* until his death.
