Biography
Common is the stage name of Chicago rapper Lonnie Rashid Lynn, who recorded his first two albums as Common Sense: 'Can I Borrow a Dollar?' in 1992 and the acclaimed 'Resurrection' in 1994, both produced by *No I.D.*. A legal dispute over the name forced the change to Common. His later work, including 'Like Water for Chocolate' and 'Be', established him as a major conscious rapper, and he won an Oscar for 'Glory' with *John Legend*.
