Biography
Greek Italian singer Demetrio Stratos, born in Alexandria and based in Milan, co founded *Area* and became one of the most extraordinary vocal experimenters in rock. With *Area* he mixed progressive rock, jazz and electronics, while solo albums such as 'Metrodora' and 'Cantare la voce' on #Cramps Records# explored multiphonic singing beyond language. His research with composers and phoniatrists expanded ideas of what one voice could do before his early death in New York in 1979.
