Biography
Digable Planets is an American hip hop trio formed in Philadelphia in 1987, uniting rappers Ishmael Butler, known as Butterfly, Mariana Vieira, known as Ladybug Mecca, and Craig Irving, known as Doodlebug. Signed to #Pendulum Records# and based in Brooklyn, the group released 'Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)' in 1993; its single 'Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)' reached the US top 20 and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. The second album, 'Blowout Comb' (1994), drew on Black nationalist themes and live instrumentation but sold less well, and the trio split in 1995. They reunited for tours between 2005 and 2011 and again from 2015 onward.
