Biography
Dinosaur Jr. is a foundational American alternative rock band formed in 1984 in Amherst, Massachusetts. Known for being one of the key acts to reintroduce loud, extended guitar solos to indie rock, their sound is defined by J Mascis's unique guitar work, combining heavy distortion and feedback with melodic song structures. The classic lineup consists of Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow, and drummer Murph. After releasing influential albums like 'You're Living All Over Me' on #SST Records#, internal conflict led to lineup changes. The band went on hiatus in 1997 but the original trio reunited in 2005, releasing several acclaimed albums and cementing their legacy as pioneers of the genre.
