Drowse

Biography

Drowse is the solo project of Portland, Oregon musician Kyle Bates, active since 2013. Working alone at home with collaborators as guests, Bates fuses slowcore, ambient, folk and shoegaze into lo-fi songs about memory, illness and entropy. After the debut 'Soon Asleep' in 2015 he joined #The Flenser# for 'Cold Air' in 2018, 'Light Mirror' in 2019 and 'Wane Into It' in 2022, records praised for their dreamy, unsettling intimacy and his fragile, whispered singing.
