Biography
Austin noise rock trio Ed Hall, formed in 1985 and named after a fictional character, paired Gary Chester on guitar, Larry Strub on bass and, first, Kevin Whitley and later Lyman Hardy on drums. Their records for #Boner Records# and #Trance Syndicate#, from 'Albert' and 'Love Poke Here' to 'Gloryhole', 'Motherscratcher' and 'La La Land', twisted pop structures with scrambled vocals and abrasive guitar noise. Heirs to the weird rock crown of *Butthole Surfers*, whom they toured with in 1991, the band split in 1996 and its core later regrouped as *Pong*.
