Biography

Emptiness is a Belgian band formed in Brussels in 1998 that has evolved from its black and death metal origins into a genre-defying entity. Initially exploring a dark, atmospheric metal sound, the band progressively incorporated elements of post-punk, industrial, and avant-garde experimentation. Their critical breakthrough came with 2014's 'Nothing But The Whole', an album celebrated for its hypnotic, dreamlike textures that pushed beyond extreme metal conventions. Subsequent releases, such as the stark, distortion-free 'Vide' (2021) and its heavier counterpart 'Nowhere Speaks' (2026), have solidified their reputation for musical transformation, creating immersive and unsettling soundscapes that prioritize atmosphere and conceptual depth over stylistic purity.
