Biography
Stage name of Frank Tovey (1956-2002), British electronic pioneer and the first signing to #Mute Records#. Fad Gadget's albums 'Fireside Favourites' (1980) and 'Incontinent' (1981) mixed synthesizers with industrial noise and sardonic social commentary, and his confrontational performances made him a cult figure of the new wave era. Tovey later recorded rootsier music under his own name. His influence runs through industrial music and synth-pop alike.
