Biography
Fanfare Ciocărlia are a twelve piece Romani brass band from Zece Prăjini, Romania, discovered in 1996 by German engineer Henry Ernst. Playing trumpets, horns, tubas, clarinets, saxophones and percussion at ferocious speed and without sheet music, they turned Romanian and Romani wedding music into an international concert draw. Their albums for #Piranha Musik# and #Asphalt Tango Records# include 'Radio Pașcani', 'Iag Bari', 'Gili Garabdi' and 'Queens and Kings', and they won the BBC Radio 3 Award for World Music in 2006.
