Biography
Faye Wong is a Chinese singer, songwriter, and actress revered as a pop icon across Asia, where she is often called a "Diva" or "Heavenly Queen". Born in Beijing and launching her career in Hong Kong, she initially recorded under the name Shirley Wong. She gained widespread fame in the early 1990s by blending mainstream C-pop with alternative and dream-pop influences. Her ethereal vocals and reserved public persona created a unique mystique, further solidified by her acclaimed acting roles in films like *Wong Kar-wai's* 'Chungking Express'. Her 1996 album 'Fuzao' ('Restless'), which featured collaborations with *Cocteau Twins*, is considered a landmark artistic statement. In 2000, Guinness World Records recognized her as the best-selling female Cantopop artist.
