Canadian progressive rock band formed in Toronto in 1976 by keyboard player Cameron Hawkins and electric violinist *Nash the Slash*, with drummer Martin Deller completing the classic trio. FM's guitar free sound powered 'Black Noise' (1977) and its hit 'Phasors on Stun', followed by 'Surveillance' (1979) and 'City of Fear' (1980) with Ben Mink, a pop turn in the 1980s, and a Hawkins led revival with 'Transformation' (2015).
