Biography
For Against are a post-punk and dream pop band from Lincoln, Nebraska, formed in 1984 around singer and bassist Jeffrey Runnings. Their brooding, jangling records for #Independent Project Records#, notably 'Echelons' and 'December', channelled *The Chameleons* and early *R.E.M.* by way of the American Midwest, and later albums such as 'Coalesced' made them quiet icons of American post-punk. Runnings led the band until his death in 2025.
