Biography
Fred Neil (1936–2001) was an American folk singer-songwriter whose deep baritone and 1966 album 'Fred Neil' produced two standards: 'Everybody's Talkin'', a hit for *Harry Nilsson*, and 'The Dolphins'. A Brill Building writer turned Greenwich Village folkie, he also co-wrote *Roy Orbison*'s 'Candy Man'. Neil largely abandoned music in the 1970s for dolphin protection work in Florida, becoming one of the era's great reclusive figures.
