Biography
Gy枚rgy Ligeti was a Hungarian-Austrian composer of contemporary classical music, celebrated as one of the most innovative avant-garde figures of the 20th century. He rose to prominence after fleeing Hungary in 1956, developing his signature "micropolyphony" technique鈥攁 dense web of canons creating a blurred, evolving texture. This is exemplified in works like 'Atmosph猫res' and 'Lux Aeterna'. His music gained widespread recognition through its use in films by director *Stanley Kubrick*, most notably '2001: A Space Odyssey'. Ligeti's compositions, including his only opera 'Le Grand Macabre' and his virtuosic piano '脡tudes', are marked by complex rhythms, dark humor, and textural exploration.
