Biography
Intelligent Hoodlum is Percy Lee Chapman, the Queensbridge rapper later known as Tragedy Khadafi. A *Juice Crew* junior member as a teenager, he coined the word illmatic on 'In Control, Volume 1' in 1988, then, after prison, relaunched under this name with the politically charged albums 'Intelligent Hoodlum' (1990) and 'Tragedy: Saga of a Hoodlum' (1993), produced by *Marley Marl*. He adopted the Tragedy Khadafi name in 1997. Intelligent Hoodlum is an earlier stage name of one ongoing career, not a separate artist or alias project.
