Biography
Isildurs Bane is a Swedish progressive rock ensemble from Halmstad, formed in 1976 and led since the late 1970s by keyboardist and principal composer Mats Johansson. Beginning with Swedish-language symphonic rock on 'Sagan om Ringen' (1981), the band evolved into an instrumental chamber-rock orchestra on 'Cheval – Volonté de rocher' (1989) and 'The Voyage' (1992), then explored chamber music, improvisation and art-pop across the five 'MIND' albums. In recent years the ensemble has made full collaborative albums with *Steve Hogarth* and *Peter Hammill*, and it remains active after nearly five decades.
