Biography
Joe Meek was an English record producer and songwriter whose Holloway Road studio produced some of the most distinctive British pop of the early 1960s. A former sound engineer, he pioneered overdubbing, sampling and heavy reverberation, and wrote and produced 'Telstar' for *The Tornados*, a transatlantic number one. His hits for *John Leyton*, *Heinz* and *The Honeycombs*, together with his experimental album 'I Hear a New World', made him one of the first producers recognised as an artist in his own right.
