Biography
John Denver was the folk-country singer-songwriter behind 'Take Me Home, Country Roads', 'Rocky Mountain High' and 'Annie's Song', songs whose celebration of rural life and the natural world made him a defining voice of 1970s America. Born in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1943, he emerged from *The Chad Mitchell Trio* to solo fame on #RCA#, wrote 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' for *Peter, Paul and Mary*, and balanced music with acting and environmental activism. He died in a 1997 aircraft crash in Monterey Bay, California, aged fifty-three.
