Biography
Jon King is an English singer, lyricist, and founding member of the influential post-punk band Gang of Four. Born on June 8, 1955, he formed the group in Leeds in 1976 with guitarist *Andy Gill*. King was the band's primary lyricist, known for his bitterly analytical and politically charged words, infused with Marxist and Situationist theories. His distinctive vocal delivery and energetic stage presence, which included playing melodica and using items like a microwave for percussion, became hallmarks of the band's confrontational style. Gang of Four's debut album, 'Entertainment!', is considered a landmark of the post-punk era, with King's lyrics dissecting themes of consumerism, alienation, and love.
