Biography

Karen Dalton (1937-1993) was an American folk and country blues singer, guitarist and banjo player from the Greenwich Village scene of the early 1960s. Admired by contemporaries including *Bob Dylan*, she recorded only two studio albums, 'It's So Hard to Tell Who's Going to Love You the Best' in 1969 and 'In My Own Time' in 1971, mostly interpreting other writers' songs in a voice frequently compared with *Billie Holiday*. Little recognised commercially during her lifetime, Dalton has since become a major influence on folk and Americana singers.
