Biography
KAT, whose name means executioner in Polish, are a heavy and thrash metal band formed in Katowice in 1979 by Piotr Luczyk and Ireneusz Loth. With vocalist Roman Kostrzewski they recorded 'Metal and Hell' and its Polish version '666' (both 1986) and 'Oddech wymarłych światów' (1988), becoming one of the most influential metal bands in Poland despite official accusations of satanism. After the 2004 split, Luczyk kept KAT going with new members while Kostrzewski fronted *Kat & Roman Kostrzewski* until his death in 2022.
