Katra Turana

Biography

Katra Turana were a Tokyo underground ensemble formed in 1980 around singer Atsushi Hiroike, whose theatrical, high pitched delivery fronted an acoustic group built on violin and piano with junk percussion. Mixing folk, chanson, jazz and rock, they released a self titled debut on #Telegraph Records# in 1982 and a second album, 'Kimera', in 1986, then vanished, leaving two albums of unusually intimate Japanese avant garde song.
