Biography

Kauko Röyhkä and Narttu was the 1980s billing for Finnish rock singer, guitarist and writer Kauko Röyhkä with his backing band Narttu. From the debut 'Steppaillen' in 1980 through 'Pikku enkeli', 'Mielummin vanha kuin aikuinen' and 'Joko - tai' in 1990, the partnership produced some of the most admired Finnish language rock of the decade, pairing sharp, literary lyrics with punk and new wave energy. Röyhkä continued solo after Narttu wound down, alongside a parallel career as a novelist and columnist.
