Biography
Lefty Frizzell, born William Orville Frizzell on March 31, 1928 in Corsicana, Texas, was one of the most influential country singers ever recorded. His 1950 breakthrough for #Columbia#, 'If You've Got the Money (I've Got the Time)', began a run of honky-tonk standards including 'Always Late (With Your Kisses)', 'The Long Black Veil' and 'Saginaw, Michigan'. His drawn-out, sliding phrasing shaped generations of singers. He died on July 19, 1975 in Nashville, Tennessee, and entered the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1982.
