Biography
Liquid Tension Experiment are an American progressive metal supergroup formed in 1997 by Mike Portnoy with John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess and Tony Levin. Their two albums of 1998–1999 were written and recorded in single weeks of intense improvisation, and the same quartet returned for 'Liquid Tension Experiment 3' in 2021. The project grew out of Portnoy's wish to work with Levin, and its success helped bring Rudess into *Dream Theater*.
