Louis Moholo

A South African drummer and a founding member of the legendary Blue Notes, alongside Dudu Pukwana and Johnny Dyani. As a political exile in London, Moholo became a powerhouse of the British free improvisation scene. His drumming is known for its incredible energy, polyrhythmic complexity, and its ability to blend the joyous, buoyant rhythms of South African township music with the cathartic intensity of free jazz. His album 'Spirits Rejoice!' is a landmark of the UK free jazz scene.
